PAC Performance unveil brand new Mazda 6 at Sydney Auto Salon

As one of the top Hi Tech engine and tuning shops in the country and boasting the largest rotary customer base in the Southern Hemisphere, the team at PAC Performance know what it takes design the fastest sports compact cars on a quarter-mile drag strip.

At last weekend's Final Battle Auto Salon event, held at Sydney’s Olympic Park, the PAC Performance Drag Racing team unveil ed their latest project – a rear wheel drive 2008 Mazda 6.

The full chassis drag car, complimented by a full carbon fibre body and interior, was initially built by RJ Race Cars in America and driven by leading NHRA drag racer Allen Johnson in the Pro Stock category.

After being shipped to Australia a couple of months ago the PAC Performance team have been busy fitting out the Mazda with a 20b triple rotor turbo engine, a Garrett ball bearing 1500hp turbo, five-speed Liberty transmission along with state of the art brakes, wheels and steering components.

“The development of this Mazda and the 20b triple rotor turbo engine is probably the biggest single car project that the team at PAC Performance has undertaken in its 18 year history,” said PAC Performance’s Rocky Rehayem.

“All of our technical partners, which include Castrol Australia, Garrett Turbochargers and Turbosmart, have been invaluable in the development of the new car.

“With our current race car, the MX6, being the third fastest rotary-powered car in the world and the team being five-time back-to-back record holders in the Sport Compact Pro Rear-wheel drive category we know what it takes to be successful in the sport. However, this new project will take us to the next level.

“All of the engine technology and tuning in the Mazda is Australian engineering at its best and all of the research and development has been done in house at PAC Performance.

“Our aim is for the new car to become the fastest Pro Rear wheel drive car in the world.”

The new PAC Performance Mazda 6 will be unveiled this weekend prior to hitting the drag strip for the first time on Boxing Day (December 26) in the Top Fuel Challenge at the Western Sydney International Dragway.
