Castrol’s Best Oil Just Got Better
Taking Castrol EDGE To The Extreme
The Castrol EDGE range of engine oils has been taken to a whole new level of performance.
Now delivering Castrol’s best available engine oil technology, the new range has been reformulated to deliver new and improved performance claims.
Initially launched in 2006, the Castrol EDGE range was engineered to meet the toughest industry performance standards and specifications across all critical engine factors. “Since then, the range has firmly stood its ground,” commented Andrew Johnson, Marketing Director for Australasia. “The EDGE range has proven technical superiority through traditional technical laboratory and race track tests. In order to continue our advances in motoring technology and support the strenuous demands
placed on engines, we decided to push standards to the limits through a new range of powerful extreme tests.”
Neil McTavish, Castrol Technical Manager, claims impressive results proving Castrol’s success against the competition. “During what we call the Extreme Maximum Power test, we took identical cars, filled one with Castrol EDGE and the other with competitor synthetic oil. Using a special test chassis dynamometer the cars were run flat out at maximum power (225bhp) equivalent to driving up an incline of 8.8% without topping up the oil. Our engine was still running strong 40 hours after the competition engine had seized!”
What this test proves is that Castrol EDGE outperforms other synthetic oils even when pushed to the limit in extreme conditions. Neil says that “conclusive test results indicate that Castrol EDGE Sport 0W-40 and Castrol EDGE Sport 10W-60 maintained maximum horsepower for up to 45% longer than other synthetic oils.”
Coinciding with the new and impressive maximum horsepower claim is Castrol EDGE Sport 0W-40’s new C2/C3 specification. Neil explains “Our flagship 0W-40 synthetic now passes the demanding European fuel economy test M111FE, and now meets ACEA C2/C3 specifications and is suitable for the latest diesel vehicles fitted with a diesel particulate filter. So if you’re not demanding maximum power it is helping to reduce your fuel consumption.”
The Castrol EDGE range is comprised of four products: Castrol EDGE Sport 0W-40, Castrol EDGE Sport 10W-60, Castrol EDGE Sport 5W-30 and Castrol EDGE Sport 25W-50 – all of which have been designed to suit specific performance and OEM applications.
The Castrol EDGE range is designed for optimum engine performance and resonates with those who are passionate about their car and unwilling to compromise on quality and performance no matter what, where or how hard they drive.
